Mythology (Task 2a)

"In Greek mythology the Primordial deities are the first entities or beings that come into existence. They form the very fabric of the universe and as such are immortal. These deities are a group of gods from which all the other gods descend. They preceded the Titans, the descendants of Gaia and Uranus.Without male assistance, Gaia gave birth to Uranus (the Sky) who then fertilized her. From that union were born first the Titans—six males: CoeusCriusCronusHyperionIapetus, and Oceanus; and six females: MnemosynePhoebeRhea,TheiaThemis, and Tethys. After Cronus was born, Gaia and Uranus decreed no more Titans were to be born. They were followed by the one-eyed Cyclopes and the Hecatonchires or Hundred-Handed Ones, who were both thrown into Tartarus by Uranus. This made Gaia furious. Cronus ("the wily, youngest and most terrible of Gaia's children"), was convinced by Gaia to castrate his father. He did this, and became the ruler of the Titans with his sister-wife Rhea as his consort, and the other Titans became his court. Then Zeus stands up to his father Cronus with his siblings Hades and Poseidon. Three siblings share the ruling of Olympus. Zeus becomes the God of sky, lightning, thunder, law, order, justice; Poseidon is the God of  sea, earthquakes, storms, and horses; Hades is  Dead and Riches. Also their other siblings Demeter is the goddess of the harvest;Hestia is a virgin goddessof the heartharchitecture, and the right ordering of domesticity, the family and the state;Hera is the Goddess of birth, women and marriage.Olympus always has 12 gods and this number never change."                                                               Quatition from Wikipedia as information.

I am interested in Greek Mythology and as long as I search, I like it. Greek Myth has infinite amazing cases and ideas. I am fan of the notion that occurs these legends and religion without any lack or incompability. For our religion and for other religion these mythological Gods may be nonsense also many people thinks nothing about Greek Myth. ın my opinion, however,Greek Myth shows me ideas and way of thinking of people who lived thousand years ago and live now so a person see the different between Hellenistic Age and today. Gods of Greek actually are popular among some people but despite this I want them to be more popular or intresting for everyone. The idea that if you are intrested in Myth then you believe them is fully wrong in my opinion. So in my judgement there is nothing that reading these Myth damages our belief. Maybe on the contrary it force our faith.

  1. Hello Tuğçe,
Firstly thank you very much for so informative a text -particularly for those who do not know much about mythology like me :)
Your articulation is good, I'd write it somehow different, though.
(Please be careful of the punctuation, use of capital letters and some grammatical aspects.)

I am interested in Greek Mythology and the more I search about it, the better I like it. Greek Mythology has infinite amazing cases and ideas. ............ For Islam and other religions these mythological gods are nonsense. For this reason, many people know nothing about Greek Myth. In my opinion, however, Greek Myth shows me perspectives of those who lived thousand years ago and thus the differences between Hellenistic Age and today. Ancient Greek gods actually are popular among some people; though, I want them to be more popular all over the world and interesting for everyone. The idea that you believe in mythological gods if you are interested in them is fully wrong in my opinion, so in my judgement it is not true that reading these myths damages our belief. Perhaps, on the contrary, it forces our faith.

    By the way,
not Quatition but Quotation, and there is no need to add such thing as "as information" after the remark where the quotation is cited from.

PS, What do you mean by that ? I got really confused: (Please tell me whether "the notion that" is relative clause or intended to be noun clause but misspelled.)
"I am a fan of the notion that occurs these legends and religion without any lack or incompability."

    Sincerely,
    Uğur :)
